Overview: Space Tank is a new kind of radio that allows users to listen to live music and connect them visually through a live video feed.
Role: UX Researcher | Product Designer
Challenge
Users need to feel more connected to the community while participating in remote experiences to maintain a positive, productive headspace.
How might we provide a space that can discover new music, explore new places, and share her experience with friends within a community?
Research
Upon grouping similar data points I was able to clearly understand my research. Clear insights began to become readily apparent.
Persona development through my research and findings from our user interviews. 80% of the interviewees were under the age of 45 and are all working professionals trying to balance work and a remote social life during the global pandemic
Design
To include the front end development team in the design, I hosted a Design Studio where we individually sketched, pitched, critiqued and iterated and I was able to visualize our ideas and refine the design.
Using the MoSCow method (left) I focused on the MUST have and SHOULD have features as opposed to the COULD and WON’T. I then created a Feature Prioritization Matrix (right) where I determined the essential features and decided which would be the most cost effective.
Usability Testing
SIGN IN. This task, though simple, will gave results that lead to insights on how receptive the audience is to the playful microcopy of the homepage and how quickly the login function can be accomplished.
FAVORITE. The results of this task showed how easily users can navigate through the mobile website by utilising the side arrows. It also showed if they can easily identify the ‘heart’ icon as an icon that would function as ‘favorite’.
SHARE. The connections icon has been located to accommodate the volume slider. This move brings the two most important icons in close proximity (favorite and connection).
